Green Thumb’s offices are located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of thexʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. As a touring company, Green Thumb Theatre’s work often takes place throughout the traditional homelands of most of the Indigenous Nations and cultures across British Columbia and beyond.

Green Thumb Theatre is seeking experienced theatre-based facilitators to offer 1 to 2 hour workshops with Elementary or Secondary students to accompany our touring productions in Metro Vancouver throughout the2023-24 season (September 2023 to May 2024).

About the Role:

Reporting to and collaborating with the Education Liaison, the facilitators will lead 1 to 2 hour workshops for approximately 30 students at a time in Elementary and Secondary schools throughout Metro Vancouver. Using Green Thumb productions as a springboard for discussions, facilitators will employ a toolkit of games and activities to get participants thinking and expressing themselves in new ways, while encouraging students to explore their own stories and the things that matter to them through the language of theatre. Facilitators will be scheduled for bookings based on their availability and will be paid on a per workshop basis. They will also be paid an hourly wage for planning and training sessions with the Education Liaison in July and August of 2023.

Responsibilities:

·        Read and familiarize yourself with the 4 touring productions Green Thumb is touring in the 2023-24 season

·        Work with the Education Liaison to create theatre-based workshops

·        Provide a daytime availability on a month-by-month basis to the Education Liaison in order to be scheduled for workshops

·        Transport yourself to Elementary and Secondary schools across Metro Vancouver

·        Deliver fun, inclusive, and creative workshops for approximately 30 youth at a time

·        Support the youth participants in creating their own pieces

 

Requirements:

•       Experience with Arts-Based Facilitation

•       Experience with theatre performance, specifically devising and collective creation

•       Experience working with Elementary and/or Secondary aged youth

•       Working within an anti-oppression framework

•       Empathetic, a good listener, and approachable

•       Adaptable, self-motivated, and outgoing

•       Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others

•       Current criminal record check or willingness to get one

•       Access to a vehicle or the ability to get to schools throughout Metro Vancouver reliably

 

Remuneration:

 

$150 per workshop ($100 for the workshop and $50 for travel expenses)

$50 per hour for planning and training with the Education Liaison
