Green Thumb Theatre does not accept unsolicited script submissions at this time.
Twice annually, the company accepts script pitches and development proposals through the following
open intake periods: November 1 - 30 and June 1 - 30. Anyone who submits outside these dates will be
asked to resubmit during the next intake period.
To submit a pitch, please include a synopsis of your play and one scene from the script.
To submit a development proposal, please submit an outline of the plot and/or themes you wish to
explore no more than one page in length, and a writing sample no more than five pages in length.
Additionally, pitches and development proposals should include the following information:
1) Your full mailing address, phone number and e-mail address
2) A cover letter containing information about the development of the play, what stage you feel the
script is at, any past or current productions, and any contractual obligations you have with other
theatres regarding this play
3) Breakdown of the cast (how many in the cast, doubling, etc. )
5) Self-addressed return envelope and postage if applicant would like physical copy of script returned
Digital copies are preferred and can be sent to scripts@greenthumb.bc.ca. Physical copies can be sent
during intake period to:

We are only able to offer developmental support to Canadian playwrights. However, we are willing to
accept submissions of produced plays from international playwrights for production consideration.

We acknowledge, via e-mail, that your submission has been received. Due to volume of submissions, we
are unable to provide feedback to all applicants. Only those being contacted for development or
production purposes will receive further correspondence regarding their project.
