As a touring company, Green Thumb Theatre’s work often takes place throughout the traditional homelands of most of the Indigenous Nations and cultures across British Columbia and beyond. Green Thumb Theatre is seeking an enthusiastic and results driven Production & Facilities Manager to join the Green Thumb team! This is a full time permanent position.

Standard office hours: 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. Please note, the Production & Facilities Manager will be expected to work some evenings and weekends.

About the Role:

Reporting jointly to the Artistic Director and General Manager, the Production & Facilities Manager oversees all production-related activity both in house and on tour, the rental and the maintenance of the Green Thumb Theatre Facilities (Office, Studios) as well as supervision of all technical aspects of Green Thumb’s productions and special events.  

The Production & Facilities Manager works collaboratively with other Green Thumb staff members:  with the Artistic Director on creative design aspects of production, the Tour & Education Manager to hire and contract personnel and cost out all touring and other productions, and reporting on budget progress, building operations and human resource issues to the General Manager.

The Production & Facilities Manager provides professional support to the Artistic Director, General Manager and Board of Directors and acts as an advocate of Green Thumb Theatre to arts professionals, various stakeholders and the community at large.

Requirements:

• Post-secondary training or equivalent with a focus on theatre production and/or technical theatre and/or other relevant professional experience

• Demonstrated ability and experience in overseeing the work of others

• Strong communicator, written and orally

• Positive attitude and professional demeanor

• Strong work ethic and passion for live theatre for youth which focuses on social justice

• Advance knowledge of MS office an asset, but not a requirement

• Valid class 5 Drivers’ License

• Occupational First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it

• Strong sense of initiative and problem-solving skills

• Availability to manage the responsibilities of the position on an on-call basis during certain peak times of the touring season

• Knowledge and working understanding of CTA and ADC agreements as well as other associations relating to theatre production and respective union contracts

• Ability to work independently, and also manage members of the production and facilities teams, including but not limited to stage management, technicians, contractors, etc.

• Experience with live streaming an asset

Remuneration:

$40,000-45,000 per annum commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package available after 3-months of employment
